My bother got me hooked on thrifts when I was in college. he was working with handicapped adults. and expected to wear shirts, he found that $1.00 Van Heusen's from thrifts worked just as well as store sales that cost many times that amount. I went into social work, and found I could dress really well on a skimpy budget, and now that I'm older I haunt my favorite thrift $.50 cent rack for shirts, jeans and other clothing items, it seems like the only way to shop!
