I came across the question  "What Surprised You the Most About Being Pregnant?" on Quora and I felt that it'd be a great prompt for a post!
I had two rather healthy and normal pregnancies with very little complications but I know no two pregnancies are exactly alike so I'd like to share with you some surprising things that I experienced that you might have as well.
Here we go!

5 Things That Surprised Me the Most About Being Pregnant

How long I could sleep.
In my first pregnancy I was unemployed and had no other children. I slept for about 10–12 hours every night. I even slept for 14 hours a few times. I didn’t have any problems falling asleep and I slept hard like I was in a freaking coma and couldn’t be roused by much. I only woke up to use the bathroom and would lay back down and fall back asleep as soon as I closed my eyes.

I just found this photo on my other blog while I was looking for old pregnancy photos to share here. See? It was real problem and my husband would let me sleep because he didn't want to disturb me but starting my day a 2 and 3 pm sucks!

I didn’t throw up.
I was often nauseated off and on throughout the day, especially at night so I always kept ginger chews near. Oh! I did throw up once early into my second pregnancy but that’s because we were all passing around a stomach virus and I decided to chug a large glass of Pedialyte and it didn’t sit well with me.

My husband didn’t seem to be very thrilled.

I didn’t want kids but he did. He came from a large family and was raised in a church with the “quiverfull” mindset. Both pregnancies were “oopsies” as I wasn’t ready to have babies yet but the both times I told him I was pregnant his reaction could only be described as “meh.” I was sure he’d be a lot more excited for a man wanted a thousand kids. Of course he would tend to my food cravings liked any good husband should, but he didn’t do sweet things like rub or kiss my belly or talk to the babies or tell me I was beautiful. He just didn’t seem to be interested and yes, that really hurt my feelings. But, I now know and understand that my husband struggles with complimenting people in general. It makes him feel awkward and it really doesn't come naturally to him.

How much I wanted other people to touch my belly.
I’m actually not real big into physical contact but I felt like a goddess when I was pregnant. I thought my big belly was glorious and I would actually get a little hurt if people didn’t ask to touch it. (I think it came from the lack of attention I got from my husband.) I loved it when people saw me big pregnant and made a big deal about how big my tummy was and fussed over me. I didn't even mind one bit if people greeted my belly before they did me. I loved that they loved my babies before they were even born and I thought the attention was wonderful!

Most of my clothes still fit.
I had very little need to buy maternity clothes with pregnancy. In my first pregnancy, I bought a pair of maternity pants and they wouldn't even stay up so I never wore them. I had better luck just sticking with my own jeans and just leaving the top button undone. I did buy some Belly Bands, but they went missing. I much preferred dresses and skirts with leggings any way.
