A vintage Christmas record:
Usually under $1 each, Christmas records
are fun and kitschy yet rather practical. Older people will appreciate them as they're sure to make them feel all warm and fuzzy and nostalgic. Younger folks will be thrilled to add another record to their collection and children... well, they probably don't even know what a record is, so don't bother. Where to find records? I can bet money that you WILL find one in the record bin at any thrift store. Be sure to check the record for scratches before you buy!!
Go to the grocery store and browse for any name-brand food that has released a special Christmas version of their product. Cookies, candies
, sodas, coffee
, and tea are most likely to release Christmas items.

Coffee and a mug:
Head to the store and pick up a bag of ground Starbucks
or some other affordable fancy poplar coffee, then hit up the dollar store for a cute Christmas mug
. If the gift recipient isn't a coffee drinker, get some tasty hot chocolate mix instead.

What you already have:
Look in your closet for clothing and accessories with tags still on them. Check your bathroom for unopened makeup and nail polish. Raid your jewelry box for barely worn like-new jewelry. Unopened DVDs? Clothes with the tag still on? Unopened bottle of wine? Wrap it up and gift it!

A gift certificate for a free personal service:
Make up a gift certificate
or a book of coupons
for free a special service that a person would really appreciate. Take over a few of their chores or offer to do something you know they'll really appreciate. Here are a few services to consider:
"Laundry for a Month"
"4 Free Car Washes"
"1 Free Family Photo Session"
"Chauffeur for A Week"
"6 Free Back Massages"

A bottle of wine:
There are plenty of great wines under $10 and if you're lucky you can run down to the gas station and pick up a bottle as late as Christmas eve night. Not sure what wine to get? Pick a label that best reflects the gift receivers personality. Seriously.

A coloring book and colored pencils:
Adult coloring books
are the thing now and the trend is still going strong. Coloring books are a great distraction from stress and help you to relax and ease the mind. You can find fantastic adult coloring books of all kinds at any bookstore and even dollar stores.

Cake or Pie:
How happy would you be if someone gave you an entire cake as a gift?
Yeah, spread the happiness! Bake a cake or pie or if you don't have enough time or the skills, just pop down to a bakery and pick up some goodies. The chocolate bundt cakes
at my local Walmart are only $6 and dang they're delicious! Make sure to add a pretty bow!

You can find cool travel mugs
for under $10 just about anywhere: coffee shops, book stores, departments store and especially discount retail stores like Ross Dress for Less and TJ Maxx.

These are all really great ideas! My daughter who is 18 thinks records are so cool and "vintage." Lol! And the limited edition foods is great because I could just pick those up at the grocery store and put them in a basket I already have. Fun post!
ReplyDeleteThese are really great ideas! And it is nice to give unique gift as well. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteWe love old records! Especially at Christmastime. :) But who can resist an old Johnny Cash album?
ReplyDeleteI like making cookies and bread for Christmas gifts (and cheeseballs, can't forget the cheeseballs but they aren't exactly cheap to make.) But hubby always gets a bag of coffee in his stocking, and we give a fair number of inexpensive bottles of wine too!
ReplyDeleteWonderful ideas! I can always use last-minute gift ideas.
ReplyDeleteAmei as dicas de presentes.
