5 Cool Educational YouTube Channels for Young Kids

Kid safe YouTube channels. YouTube channels for toddlers, homeschooling, cool youtube videos for kids. YouTube channels for preschoolers. The 5 Most Educational YouTube Channels for Kids.

YouTube is absolutely full of channels for kids of all ages. Some of them are pretty lame, some just plain absurd, some just for entertainment and the rest are a nice balance of silliness and education. With so many channels to choose from, it can be a bit difficult to find the right one that your kids will like AND something YOU can tolerate as well.

My kids are little hipsters - I blame myself for that. They're just not into Sesame Street and Barney and other floofly stuff like that. They like their ABCs raw, uncut and set to funky fresh beats.

If your little ones are too cool for school, then check out these 5 amazing YouTube channels made for cool kids, by very cool people.
ENJOY!

StoryBots
A group of robots dance and sing in super fun and colorful videos in the form of CGI, puppets, cartoons and stop motion animation.
The music is AWESOME - it's fun, catchy and thoroughly modern. The lyrics are great and the videos are fantastic! The StoryBots channel is hands down my favorite. Their videos cover many topics including a ridiculously fun song for each letter in the alphabet, dinosaurs, outer space, vehicles, veggies and more!
StoryBots is so great that they have their own show coming out on Netflix August 12, 2016!

Pancake Manor
Two young Canadian puppet boys Zach and Reggie (and their new friend Lulu) teach kids about colors, shapes the alphabet and more.
90s indie kids rejoice! This is the channel you've been waiting for. The videos are colorful and upbeat, "Mama" dresses in adorable retro dresses and the music reminds me of my favorite indie bands from back in the day like The Apples in Stereo, The Shins and They Might Be Giants. Yes, I am totally guilty of putting on these videos for myself just so I can hear the songs. Shhhh...

ParticleMen
Speaking of They Might Be Giants...
This isn't a kid's channel, but a playlist of 35 quirky educational videos for kids created by... you guessed it - They Might Be Giants!
Featuring songs from their albums for kids, each video is an absolutely educational trip!

It's back!! And yes the charming and handsome LeVar Burton is still hosting! Reading Rainbow was revived after an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign and the YouTube Channel features stories, cool field trips and segments from the original show.

Yo Gabba Gabba
I'm not much of a fan so I find it quite difficult to put on and tolerate, therefore my kids don't get to see it much. But I definitely get the appeal. I mean colorful monsters, robots, delightfully bizarre costuming and hot chart-topping musical guests? That's pretty cool.
Yo Gabba Gabb features videos about friendship, hygiene, feelings and other important daily life subjects. Hosted by the super-grinning DJ Lance sporting a skin-tight orange jumpsuit, YGG is absolutely perfect for the budding surrealist.
